The Lost Prophecy was instrumental in the Cycle of Fate.

The Lost Prophecy was prophesied in northern Kildare, by an unknown seer. At the time, there were various prophecies floating around concerning a 'Chosen One' whose blood would combine Arcane and Secular power. But this one was different - it concerned the End Times. It was of particular concern to Atropos, Queen of the Shadows, who sent her loyal Shadowmancer, Kelshazzhar along with a legion of shadows to destroy it. The shadows had already released the plague earlier that would trigger the Dark Age in Kildare, and the Raynor Divide. That had obviously not been enough to stop the prophecy spreading, and so Kelshazzhar went and indeed suceeded in destroying it. However, before he did so he read it, and the words became burned in his mind forever more. It is through him we have been able to glean its contents.

The Lost Prophecy predicted seven elemental plagues, after which the secret of fate would be revealed. It was vague as to the actual content of the plagues, suggesting they would not be of expected form or origin. Their order was: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Lightning, Light, Dark.

[edit] The 'Choosing' One

Kelshazzhar also introduced the concept of the 'choosing' one - that other prophecies may have been mistranslated, and that they referred not to a 'chosen' one, but rather a 'choosing' one, one who would choose the course of fate. Whether he meant this in relation to this specific prophecy or to the general ones is unclear at this time.
